Man attacked at Beach Boulevard home Friday night

A 33-year-old Hamilton man is facing an aggravated assault charge after another man suffered serious face injuries when he was attacked at a home on Beach Boulevard Friday night.

The two men knew each other, with the victim visiting the accused at a home on Beach Boulevard Friday night, said Staff Sgt. Dave Dunbar.

That’s where police allege the victim was attacked, leading to serious injuries to his face and head. It’s unclear if a weapon was involved.

The victim left the house near 5th Avenue and went home, where family brought him to Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington the next morning. Hamilton police were not notified of the assault until shortly before 11:30 a.m. when they got the call from the hospital.

At the scene there was police tape across several houses and a blood trail in that stretch a block from 5th to 4th avenues showing where the victim walked after being assaulted. Detectives and forensic investigators were seen gathering evidence at the scene Saturday and Sunday. It was released by police Sunday morning.

The victim remains in hospital, but despite the seriousness of his injuries they do not appear to be life-threatening at this time, police said.

On Sunday morning police arrested the 33 year old Hamilton man and charged him with aggravated assault. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing. However, police do not believe anyone else was involved.
