Hamilton police arrest man passed out in vehicle

A 24-year-old Toronto man is facing multiple charges after allegedly being found passed out in his vehicle.

Hamilton police were called to the area of Hughson and Barton streets around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers said they woke up the man and discovered he was already a suspended driver because of an earlier impaired driving offence. He tried to run, police said, but officers caught him after a "brief foot chase."

Police said they also found 24 grams of cocaine, cash, several cellphones and prescriptions not in his name in his possession.

The man was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday on charges of escape lawful custody, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, 13 counts of possession of forged documents and failing to comply with probation.
