Halton police find swiped tractor-trailer but not $60,000 in avocados

OAKVILLE — They found the tractor, the trailer and the alleged thief — but not the avocados.

Halton police say they’ve charged a 27-year-old Brampton man in the theft of a tractor-trailer that was stocked with $60,000 worth of avocados.

The tractor-trailer was swiped from a locked trucking yard on Industry Street in Oakville on Oct. 15.

The tractor was found in Etobicoke the next day and the trailer was located in Scarborough Oct. 26.

“The avocados were no longer with the trailer at the time of the recovery,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

But the investigating continues, police added.
